What is Cynosure Icon 2940 Fractional?
The Cynosure Icon 2940 Fractional handpiece is an ablative laser designed for the treatment of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, brown spots, sun-damaged skin, acne scars, volume loss due to the aging process, and textural irregularities. This sophisticated, single-treatment achieves dramatic results with minimal discomfort and downtime.
The laser beam is directed through unique optics that split it into multiple beams, known as pixels. The beams are arranged in two matrices- 7×7 (49 pixels) or 9×9 (81 pixels). The beams cause select ablation in micro-columns in the skin, which are separated by healthy tissue. The intact healthy tissues expedite the recovery by migrating new collagen and elastin into the target area. As a result, the skin’s texture improves and it becomes firmer and tighter.
How does Cynosure Icon 2940 Fractional Work?
This powerful handpiece delivers 2940 nm wavelength, which allows effective water absorption of light by the skin. The emitted laser beam is split into multiple beams called pixels, causing selective ablation in micro-columns in the skin while avoiding damage to the surrounding tissue. The intact healthy tissues surrounding the targeted column then induce skin regeneration by promoting collagen and elastin migration into the area. Over time, the skin’s texture and volume dramatically improves and it becomes smoother, tighter, and healthier.
